After more than 6 hours I finally finish my first contribution to Wikipedia and promoting greater visibility for underrepresented cultural landscapes. In this case I edited part of the page about “Teatro Juárez” in text and images. As a Visual Artist I felt more confortable contributing in a topic with visual needs but plans are to create nonexistent pages related with Visual Arts & Culture: groups, artists, places, etc in the future.
The Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon (#Wikiturgy on Twitter) project is based on PostColonial theories; From my perspective it’s a great project with a clear intention: try to fill in the blanks on how knowledge is built online. On the slideshow you can find some basics about the project:
